Marija Kramer - Managing Director of ISS ESG

Marija Kramer is Managing Director of ISS ESG, the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. She leads the ESG Analytics business unit, which enables investors to develop and integrate responsible investing policies and practices, engage on responsible investment issues, and monitor portfolio companies through in depth research, data and screening solutions. Marija also heads ISS-climate, which provides data, analytics and advisory services to help financial market participants understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks across all asset classes. She is responsible for new ESG product development, working closely with industry constituents and partners to advance ESG solutions for the benefit of institutional investors.

A member of ISS’ Leadership Team, Marija has been instrumental in identifying and securing external growth opportunities, globally, for the ISS ESG business.

Before joining ISS in 2003, Marija was with Thomson, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of Thomson’s flagship investment management and banking portals. She holds an M.B.A. from American University’s Kogod School of Business.

Julia Haake - Head of ESG Sales Europe

Julia Haake, PhD in economics, is Head of Responsible Investment Advisory & Sales at ISS, the leading global provider of proxy voting and ESG research. She joined oekom research in 2011 (acquired by ISS in March 2018), developing the research provider’s business in France, Switzerland and other French-speaking countries before taking over worldwide business development and client relations. She now manages the global team of Responsible Investment product specialists based in Europe and the U.S.

Julia started working on sustainability issues in 1993 as a researcher, first at Wuppertal Institute and then Versailles University, where she worked on various research projects as well as her PhD thesis related to corporate sustainability strategies. She then joined O2 France as a consultant and business developer, advising corporates on environmental and sustainability policy and strategy. From 2003 to 2008 she held positions at French La Poste Group as Group Head of Environment and the Head of CSR of the global Mail Department, before joining WWF-France, where her mission was to manage the NGO’s corporate relations, partnerships and fundraising. Inside WWF, she led a team of 15 partnership managers, CSR experts and fundraisers.

Julia is co-author of the book "L'Entreprise Légère", written with Basile Gueorguievsky, published by Delachaux & Niestlé in Autumn 2010.

Ariane - Head of ISS ESG Sales North America

Ariane de Vienne is Head of ISS-oekom Americas. She has responsibility for ISS-oekom’s ESG research and rating business in North America and is part of the leadership team establishing ISS ESG as a leader and gold-standard in the responsible investment industry. Having begun her banking career in Germany, Ariane gained extensive experience with her own impact and ESG consulting businesses in Hong Kong and New York. Prior to that she was Managing Director at Guggenheim Investment Advisors LLC and served as Senior Vice President at David J. Greene and Company as well as in several Managing Director roles at JPMorgan Chase. Ariane serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations focusing on social impact investing as well as ecological issues, including the US Board of The Climate Group. She is also a Senior Advisor to SustainAsia Ltd, Hong Kong, and an Ambassador to TBLI, a Dutch-based organization dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits and opportunities of impact investing.

Matthew Newman - Head of Global ISS Sales

Matt Newman is the Head of Global Institutional Sales. He oversees the global sales team and sets overall sales strategy for ISS’ Analytics, Proxy, Responsible Investment, and Securities Class Action Services business lines. Previously, Matt served as Head of East Coast and Canadian sales and has more than 20 years of client service experience, working with clients in the U.S. and internationally. Matt has been with ISS since 2003 having held a variety of leadership positions in the Governance and RiskMetrics businesses.

Prior to joining ISS, Matt held various consulting positions for both Price Waterhouse and Arthur Andersen. In addition, Matt was the director and founding partner of Castle Point Systems, Inc. in New York consulting firm, which was acquired by Meritage Technologies in 2000. Matt has a BS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Richard Redfern - Head of EMEA Sales

Richard Redfern is a Managing Director of ISS Europe Ltd and Head of EMEA sales based in ISS’ London office. Richard has been working with global Institutions in the finance industry his whole career. Prior to joining ISS in 2005, he worked as an Account Director at Thomson Financial, working with institutions and pension funds, across a broad range of investment solutions. Prior to Thomson Financial, Richard’s roles have included working for four years at HSBC Investment Management (previously James Capel Investment Management) as a Private Wealth Portfolio Manager. Richard attended Bristol University where he earned a BSc 2.1 in Politics and Social Policy.

Johanna Milne - Head of Nordic Sales ISS

Johanna leads the commercial business in Northern Europe and ensures that client needs are met. She represents the range of services spanning across Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) research services, Proxy Voting Advisory Services, Corporate Governance Analytics and Securities Class Action Services. She will also be your main point of contact at ISS should you want to learn more or have any questions.
